My bff is one of those rare people who used to knit, and was very good at it, but doesn't knit anymore. One of the first things she ever made was a pair of argyle socks. I think that's pretty impressive, for a newbie knitter. About 30 years ago, she made a Lopi sweater similar to this one, for her husband.
He picked the pattern and yarn and she poured her heart and soul into that sweater--it's really beautiful. He. Never. Wore. It. She never knit anything ever again.
She is still pissed off to this day. I don't think I blame her.
Maybe she ought to keep the sweater and find a new husband to fit it. I keeeeeeeeeed --- I think. LOL
ReplyDeleteDang! I would have kept on knitting and just put him on the banned list.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sweater. And argyle socks. Wow. For a new knitter. She is not afraid of a challenge. How cool. Maybe you could tempt her with a challenge such as hmmm steeking entrelac or something. :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband is very supportive of my knitting, but he is not that interested in having me knit him a sweater. I made us both happy by knitting him a Christmas stocking instead. He loves it, appreciated how much time it took me (my first fair isle project!) and now that he knows Santa leaves a present in it, there's no doubt that it'll get used over and over again :-)
ReplyDeleteWow!! what a beautiful sweater. I'm with Vanessa, I'd keep knitting but wouldn't knit him anything anymore.
ReplyDeleteThat is about the saddest knitting story I've heard. :( I wish I had some sort of witty remark but I'll just go ahead and second what Dee said. :p
ReplyDeletePersonally I would tell the hub if he doesn't want to wear it I will find someone that will
ReplyDeleteDoes she want to make me a sweater?
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad! I would also have to agree with Dee and/or Annemieke...
ReplyDeleteYup, he'd be bumped off my knit list!
ReplyDeleteAnd this is why I am dithering about my DH's lovely cabled sweater, which may or may not be a cardigan--I don't want my choices to be either give up knitting or kill the freak. To make matters worse, I bought Alpaca Silk for his sweater. It's too d**n pretty for a dude's garment.
ReplyDeleteThe world needs more knitters. Hope friend decides to pick up the needles again.
