My Rock Island Shawl--Ta-da!
I love this thing so much, I almost can't believe it came off my needles. Don't get me wrong--it's not without mistakes--but I'm not going to point them out. I'll just wrap this beauty around my shoulders and feel the love.
Unblocked, it measured 21x46 inches, and blocked out to 42x64 inches. I probably could have stretched it a bit more but this is exactly the size I envisioned. Anything bigger would probably look silly on me--I'm on the short side.
If the sun ever decides to stay out for an extended period of time, I'll get DH to take a photo of me wearing it. For now, here's one of those "I took it in the bathroom mirror" shots, and an artsy-fartsy photo.
There's more details on my Ravelry page, for those who are interested.
And can you believe I already have another project going? Stay tuned...

ReplyDeleteit's just splendid - and tackling a new project is the ONLY way to get past the separation anxiety of having it off the needles! It's raining here again. We aren't going to see the sun for three more days. OY
ReplyDeleteThat is beyond beautiful! Blocking really transformed it, didn't it? It's in my queue, Of course.
ReplyDeleteWow! That was really nice!!
ReplyDeleteThis is just absolutely beautiful! Seeing yours has me leaning toward the fingering weight again. I'm going to try to find the blocking wires in the handy tube as you mentioned. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes it is Really Gorgeous! I'd be wearing it every day. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteOh my word! That is SOOO amazing! Hm, perhaps you can wear it out on a sunny Saturday (if it ever happens again) into Fabric Bliss so the owner can fondle it, and then point at something CRAZY in the street whilst stealing it off your very shoulders! Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteWear it with pride.
